2. Keep up-to-date with popular culture and technological advances that interest young adults.
Communication, Marketing, and Outreach
7. Identify young adult interests and groups underserved or not yet served by the library, including at-risk teens, those with disabilities, non-English speakers, etc., as well as those with special or niche interests.
11. Description of Example and Its Use in the Library:
I created a poster to advertise AMA-CON, an event hosted by the Friends of the Amarillo Public Library on July 20, 2013. The poster could be embedded in the library's website and Facebook page to encourage attendance of the event. AMA-CON is our largest family program, other than Summer Reading Club, and the funds raised support our early and family literacy efforts throughout the year.
12. Description of How the Example Capitalizes on the Tool's Potential:
I used the video the Friends of the Library paid for to advertise the event, embedded a link to the AMA-CON website, and listed events in order to incorporate a variety of formats to catch viewers attention. Hopefully there is something for everyone so that they receive the message in a format that appeals to them.
