Description of Example and Its Use in the Library:

I created this Motivator as a reminder of the struggles our society has gone through in our history and the inequality and racism that the Austin Public Library has endeavored to overcome. The Carver Branch of the Austin Public Library stands as a testament to the segregation that existed in Austin but also acts as a beacon of civil rights as it has transformed from the “colored” library into one of the most inclusive, welcoming branch libraries in Austin. By utilizing the “motivator” photo effect on BigHugeLabs.com I was able to instantly create my own iconic motivational poster that is relevant and specific to the staff and customers of the Carver Branch Library and conveys the history built into the walls of the library.

Any individual who walks through the doors of the Carver Branch and saw this poster would instantly know that there is historical significance to this library. By utilizing tools like the motivation effect, librarians can bring notice to different aspects of their libraries. While this medium might not contain vast amounts of information, it does convey meaning in a very impactful way.
